OUR HISTORY
Dodie's is a Dallas institution that originated on Greenville Avenue over 20 years ago. The McGuinness family – Charles "Charley," Billy, Chris "Dodie" and Casey - opened Dodie's in November 1989. All of them, being from "The Big Easy," feel that Dodie's is a blend of Cajun and New Orleans cuisine. The recipes come from their "Aunt Lou-Lou," "Aunt Daisy," "Aunt Susan" and "Mireille Lanusse McGuinness."
The original location opened at the corner of Lowest Greenville and Richmond Avenue, across from the old Whole Foods Market. The original opened with the intent on bringing authentic New Orleans food to the DFW Metroplex. After more than 20 years later, Dodie's is still going strong while the area has really exploded with new businesses and residential developments. Charley and Chris ("Dodie") are still at work hanging out and making sure your Dodie's experience is a good one.
The staff has stayed virtually the same since the beginning. Many employees and their family members have been with Dodie's since the beginning Dodie's started establishing new locations 20 years ago with its second location in Carrollton, Texas (1999). Since then, Dodie's has opened locations in Rockwall (2006), Allen (2009), Addison (2009), and now Frisco (2009).
Family friends and former managers manage and operate all Dodie's as an Operating Partner/Owner of their respective location. Each Dodie's has one thing in common: each is trying to make everyone leave happy and enjoy the Dodie's food, service, and ambiance.
We have always stuck with our motto, "You don't hafta go to New Orleans, cause at Dodie's,
New Orleans comes to you."
